Are you a student or a student-athlete? Do you play sports or do you stick with school work? All persons attending a school are classified in one of the two categories. Which category fits you? Have you ever wondered if the grass is greener on the other side? There are many advantages to being a student/student-athlete as well as disadvantages. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a student athlete? The primary disadvantage of being a student athlete is time. Athletes don’t have free time, especially during their season. Athletes spend their saturday’s in counties hours away playing their sport. An athlete rarely gets home before six in the evening and rarely get a day off from practice. Athletes also have to find the time to do their school work and when an athlete has games three days a week and practice on the days in between, it is hard to get the work done. Most athletes get their assignments for the week ahead done on the weekend because they simply do not have the time or the energy through the week. One of the advantages of being a student-athlete is the connections he/she makes. Athletes meet many, many people, they meet the players on the teams they play, they meet coaches, they meet recruits, they meet random people, athletes make numerous friends. Athletes make connections with people who can help them get into a good college or people who will help them in any way they can, which is really a blessing in disguise. An athlete 's teammates are…
