Why Was Barack Obama So Popular

Barack Obama is the current democratic president of the United States today. He was elected the 44th president on November 4, 2008 and won a second term on November 6, 2012. Barack Obama is not only the first African American president, he is also the first president to be born outside of the continental United States (Barack Obama: Life Before the Presidency). He has accomplished a lot throughout his lifetime and still strives to do so at the current age of fifty-four. Barack Obama’s tenure in office was a success. Obama was born on on the 4th of August, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Growing up, Obama lived with his maternal grandparents throughout most of his childhood, due to the separation of his parents. “He attended the Punahou School, an elite private school where, as he wrote in his 1995 memoir, Dreams from my Father.” (Barack Obama: Life Before the Presidency). His memoir showed how he began to understand has racial background and the tension that came with is such as being one of three African Americans in the school.
