A commercial that brought its audience to tears flooded TV screens in 2006. Everybody talked about the "sad dogs on TV" and sent in their money. It was a very successful advertisement and organization made a lot from it. In The ASPCA commercial, Sarah McLachlan appeals to the viewers' emotions to convince them to donate money. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, commonly known as ASPCA, created a commercial approximately ten years ago to convince viewers to donate money to their organization. After using this video for advertisement, they received a major boost in donations. People all over America were wiping tears from their eyes as they dialed the number on the screen. The abused animals on TV were instantly made famous for making America weep. Sarah McLachlan was the person who spoke in the commercial. She spoke with a soft voice which flowed with the theme of the advertisement. This was probably one of the reasons they chose her to be on camera along with how friendly she looks. …show more content…
Every aspect of this video made you feel a type of way. The beginning of the advertisement was video of animals. To make the viewers even more sad, the animals that were shown were the most damaged and depressed looking ones. The dogs and cats even looked like they were frowning. One of the cats was missing an eye, another cat was missing a leg, and one of the dogs couldn’t use its back legs to walk properly. Anybody that wouldn’t want to help a poor animal like that is heartless. Besides the visuals, the audio is also used to make people feel guilty. The music that is playing in the background is "In the Arms of an Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. This song has an extremely melancholy mood to it and now it is typically played at funerals or to remember the death of a loved one. So it made the commercial that much more
