One of the amendments in the bill of rights states “The 10th amendment states that whatever is not specifically delegated to the federal government in the constitution is passed to the states to decide” (Bill of Rights 1). This means that the United States cannot ban marijuana from their citizens unless they add another amendment. Marijuana is a state by state decision. In Morality Play on page 108 it claims that under California’s state law a man who had got arrested and charged for having medical marijuana was actually legal (Pierson 108). The medical marijuana was not legal according to the federal laws. The federal government does not have strict laws in the constitution or Bill of Rights that directly talks about medical marijuana. It is important that medical marijuana is legalized so that these patients get the treatment they need. According to Morality Play page 108 “eighteen states and the district of columbia have medical marijuana laws making it legal for sick and dying patients to smoke, with a doctor 's recommendation (Pierce 108). This is a good thing because it is relieving pain. Those who have terminal illnesses go through a lot of pain and suffering from the symptoms of their disease. According to UCSF patients with terminal illnesses showed up to a ninety-five percent decrease in chronic pain when using medical marijuana. People who have diseases and are using medical marijuana say that smoking marijuana helps set aside the pain. Also smoking helps with nausea, vomiting, sleep, and it also puts people in a better mood. Some diseases that medical marijuana is helpful for is Glaucoma, Epileptic Seizures, Cancer, Anxiety, Alzheimer 's and many more. A seven year old girl in Oregon named Mykayla Comstock uses medical marijuana to help ease the pain coming from the chemotherapy that she is doing to help with the cancer she has. Mykayla 's mother says that the marijuana helps to ease the effects of her chemotherapy, sleep through the night, and stomach meals (Ross, Winston 1).
