Anti-smoking advertisements are widely distributed throughout our society, often showing the harmful effects of smoking which can be seen either from television, the internet or even on freeway billboards which people see every day. In addition an ad that does a great job of conveying the message that smoking only cause you harm is one that displays a black and white background, showing a young man smoking a cigarette, and with the smoke from its cigarette it transforming into a gun pointed at his head, and off to the side with small font letters words saying, “Kill a cigarette, save a life. Yours”. The advertisement is conveying a vivid sense of danger because the cigarettes’ smoke transforms into a method that usually is used to commit suicide. …show more content…
The use of the colors black and white gets rid of life out of the image, almost as if it is referring to death from just smoking. Again, the black and white image provide tone, contrast and detail for a darker or mysterious image overall. The placement of the text in the down right corner provides another great use of well design composition. The visual image of the person and the smoke makes it stands out first, while the text is read second. The design text relies on not that much information for it to give the point across; it provides a short statement that holds common truth. The audience can see the advertisement and determine that it holds the truth because it is common sense that smoking will cause terrible diseases and that it could lead to death. In addition, the smoke itself transforming into a gun is what catches your eye when you first see the image, the realization of the gun itself makes the audience realize the inconvenient truth that smokers are killing themselves slowly every time they decide to have a cigarette and the way the gun points at the smoker on his head it also shows in a way that he is committing suicide in a long term. Also the message clearly explained the argument that smoking can kill you and by adding the smoke in form of a gun it also displays that one who smokes is causing harm to themselves which can be symbolize as committing suicide. In addition the ad target adolescence because they want to battle or change their minds that smoking can destroy not just physically it can change you mentally in the most horrible way. Smoking cigarettes can be a harmful action you can do which only has a negative effect not just on you but to other innocent people and yet millions of people around the world continue to smoke. Campaigns that make the anti-tobacco advertisement like to promote images that tend to view cigarettes from the negative point of view and try to make a rhetorical appeal of logos to smokers. It is harmful, and it can physically damage your body, and from constant use it can mark you for life or even it can cause
