Abortion first came onto the big scene in the early 1960’s and 70’s. Mainly during the Women's rights movement. In 1973, there was a case Roe v. Wade where Norma McCorvey was denied an elective abortion under the law. She filed suit claiming the Texas law deprived her of constitutional rights. One reason people feel abortion is wrongful is because of their religion, in many religions this kind of action would not be allowed. However as these cases have said it is legal to abort a child if it could be detrimental to either the health of the mother or the health of the child. The term “Health” is seemingly stretched a long way. Many people say that mothers who abort abuse the term “Health” because many mothers get abortions because they couldn't afford to take care of another child.
I feel that there need to be guidelines for abortion. Such as, a rape victim is allowed if they wish or if the pregnancy could be detrimental to the health of the mother or the child the abortion should be allowed. However that being said a healthy mother who has no problems in my opinion shouldn't be allowed to get an abortion just because she is upset she got pregnant. These guidelines if in place would separate the people who would need or properly use abortion from those who would use abortion as an out from parenthood or
