Oregon is having trouble with armed anti-government ranchers and protesters wanting control over federal land. The ranchers and protesters took it upon themselves to hold up Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and said “words would not fix this, only actions will” after being asked “What will it take to pack up and go home?” (Holt n.pag.). This protest went on for another couple of days and authorities are not giving up yet. The group of protesters who are still inside refuse to give into the law enforcement. The ones who are not inside were pulled over and stopped by the authorities. Most of the protesters said they rather die than go to jail, some even driving off the road to escape the police. The authorities are giving them a chance to leave town and never return,as well as stating, they will not be arrested (Holt n.pag.). The incident caused a lot of problems for the community. Most schools nearby closed for a week, and parents are concerned for their safety. In Ohio, officials have said they have seen a major increase in hate organizations in the state. Many speculate, that anti-government groups were furious with all the changes the Supreme Court have made (Frolik n.pag.).
