There are many alternatives to animal testing and excuses need to stop being made to keep animal testing in business. It may seem like it is the only option, but there are so many new ways to do the exact same test in ways which do not involve animals at all. It is cruel and inhumane to keep animals in small cages and not only physically, but also mentally harm them. Artist Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.” The time for animals to be treated similarly to humans can be…
Animal testing does have some benefits; the benefits include furthering the medical field and ensuring the safety of…
The main reason why we animal test is for cosmetic research, not medical research, which is the only type that can be half accepted. Medical research for humans on animals means they still do not get the correct results we need because of the two different reactions of chemicals in two different animals. Popular brands hide the way they animal test because they know that when people find out their product will not sell as well. Global warming is also a huge and rising problem on our earth, and by cutting out cosmetic research on animals, it will mean a few hundred less factories running around the world and releasing fumes into the atmosphere. This will mean a lot of jobs lost, but there are plenty more jobs in the world and it will only benefit our world.…
The FDA notes that they “support the development and use of alternatives to whole-animal testing,” (FDA Site). Since studies show that the results of animal testing not only are different between species, but are far from being accurate to human reactions. The process of getting rid of animal testing starts with what the article, “Detailed Discussion of Animal Testing in Commercial Products” calls the three R’s which includes “the reduction, refinement, and replacement of animal testing,”. Specifically, the goal is to “reduce the number of animals used in experiments, refine experimental procedures to minimize animal pain and suffering, and replace animal subjects with non-animal alternatives when scientifically feasible,”. There are already many approved ways to test that do not involve using living animals.…
Put the animals on test Animal testing. The process in which a live animal is tested on for human purposes. Also known as animal experimentation or animal research. The process in which thousands of animal suffer, for us humans. For us, but yet half of the items tested on are not even safe for humans.…
Current Event Article #2: The Ethics of Animal Testing Volkswagen is currently under a fire because it has come to light that they help fund tests where humans and monkeys inhaled diesel fumes for hours. The nature of the tests is still not known, as the findings have not been made public, however two independent scientists that have conducted air pollution tests on human volunteers told BBC that similar tests on humans are common (Gunter, 2018). The controversial and unethical testing was found to be funded by a lobbyist group, not independent or by government. In these tests, “participants spend up to two hours in a sealed environment chamber breathing diluted diesel fumes equivalent to the levels of air pollution in Beijing or Delhi”…
John Ericson from Newsweek magazine, offers several facts and statistics on the treatment involved with animal testing. Ericson states, “Over 25 million animals [are] used for research annually.” However, ninety-two percent of the products that were tested on lab animals and were considered safe to the animals, fail in human testing, due to the lack of internal and external similarities between laboratory animal and humans (Ericson). This being the case, animal testing proves to be an ineffective way to determine toxicity on drugs and other products. Additionally, animal testing proves not only to be a waste of animals’ lives, but an insufficient waste of time and money.…
Animal testing has been being used for the past several years with tons of issues along the way; maybe it’s time to try another method of experimenting. This type of testing is very unfair to the wellbeing and even the life span of multiple different animals, not to mention that it is crazy expensive. It is very important that doctors and scientists are trying their hardest to find better, more efficient, medical procedures but this doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be tested on animals who definitely didn’t sign up for this. Overall, testing on animals is not something that has to keep happening, a change is definitely to be made. Testing on animals has continually shown that it is inhumane and cruel.…
Animals Testing Did you know that all across the world each year, millions of animals are being put under harsh and inhumane circumstances in order to have potentially harmful products tested on them? How is it ethical that on estimate, 26 million animals are used for scientific and commercial testing? Many people have a preconceived idea that only “useless” animal are being tested on such as rats, but animals like dogs and cats are being tested on as well. In 2010, Minnesota used a total of 2,703 cats and New Jersey used a total of 6,077 dogs, that is more than any other state (“Alternatives In Testing”). Animal testing is something that needs to come to an end and due to our upgraded technology and science in today’s day and age, I know that there are several alternatives scientists can take in order to put an end to testing on innocent animals.…
After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
Animal testing has been a part of our society since the early 1900s. And it appears to me, that not until around 40 years ago or so, people began to realize that testing animals was inhumane on many different levels. But because we are the human beings that we are, we still try to shy away from a lot of the negative consequences of animal testing. It is easier for us to push aside that which is bad and try only to look at the positive aspects. Yet, in my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros.…
In our daily lives, we use different products for various of reasons. In drugstores and in our local malls, there are categories of diverse items, which range from makeup, skincare, hair products, prescription medicine, and much more. They contribute in making our lives easier and more productive and are often designed to enhance our appearance and health. When we watch television or browse the Internet, we constantly see new products being advertised, and each label contains the ingredients and facts pertaining to that item. However, to make these items safe for human use, most companies test them.…
Why Animal Testing Should Be Banned Everyday innocent animals are being forced into labs and tested for human research advancement. Cruelty Free International states how approximately 115 million animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, dogs and monkeys are used in dangerous laboratory experiments every year. In fact, many of the experiments are said to be useless tests, as stated, “The reality is that the majority of animal experiments do not contribute to improving human health, and the value of the role that animal experimentation plays in most medical advances is questionable” (“Animal Testing is Bad Science”). Misconceptions by the media may stretch the idea how animal testing can cure diseases, illnesses etc.. But actually, as emphasized, animal testing is an inefficient way of finding medical advances, making the procedures to be unnecessary and making there be no reason to force animals into labs without a choice, it's blatantly a waste of animals lives.…
Animal testing is putting animals lives at risk. Testing random chemicals on animals and and probably will kill them. Animals and humans are different from each other so the experiments probably won't have the same effect. Animal testing is horrible it’s cruel and inhumane.…
People and animals benefit from some of the testing done. We should continue to use animals in testing new products, but we should only use them for test that don’t have a better alternative. Until the day where other types of tests…
