Amber Hufford Mr. Limone Composition 12/11/15 Albert Einstein once said: “Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” Through this statement, Einstein shows how important all living creatures are. Human or not they deserve to have a life they enjoy. Testing on animals takes their joy away.…
For most people there are two scenarios that come to mind when they hear animal testing. The first scenario is that scientist are torturing, neglecting and abusing the animals that are being tested on. The other scenario is that scientist are being ethical, take care of the animals and are creating life-saving medicines. This makes the use of animals in experiments a controversial topic; a topic that isn’t quite black and white when argued. There are different types of animal testing like, medical testing and cosmetic testing; one is more ethical than the other.…
Humans are the only hunters who kill when not hungry.” This quote by Steven Spielberg directly refers to the cruel acts performed by people against animals such as animal testing. When one enters a personal products aisle and walks down, eyeing different products like hair spray, shampoos, or mascara, the harsh reality of animal testing might not come into thought. Thousands of animals are harmed every day with chemicals, needles, surgeries, and poked with test tubes. Tests are inflicted upon harmless animals to make sure that no harm could come to humans by using the same product.…
On average, about 26 million animals are taken and used as little test subjects for big corporations to test their possibly harmful, and occasionally lethal, products before they release them to the public's use. This testing on animals began in 500 B.C and many corporations that participate in it see no harm, and have absolutely no intentions of stopping it anytime soon. There are many people that think testing these possibly dangerous products on innocent animals is not a big deal, but this paper will inform the public with some statistics and also give you the writer's perspective on why animal testing is wrong. One thing that is very arguable when talking about whether testing on these creatures should be approved, and continue or…
Animal testing is wrong towards animals for many reasons. If you think about animal testing like animal fighting which is similar because the animals are forced to do stuff they have no consent with. We should find more alternative ways to test stuff than putting animals through pain. In fact there are alternative ways to animal testing that we should use since it is more accurate. Once again, we should put a stop to animal…
Animals are there for people to enjoy and have fun with. They come in many different shapes, sizes, and types. Yet not all animals are not treated by the same standards as other animals. Animal testing is wrong because of the effects it has on the animals such as the harmful side effects, the reduction of life expectancy, and the lasting effects it has on the animal. Most of the time the test subjects are harmed in some way.…
Centuries have come and gone since the first form of animal testing was performed by the likes of Aristotle and Eristaratus (Hajar). This was back in the days where there was no technology to test medicines or different types of substances, therefore it is reasonable why the tested on animals. To this day multimillionaire companies keep testing on defenseless animals. Humanity has been able to come far in so many aspects of life, but when it comes to testing new products or drugs we are at a horrifying standstill. Technology is the key to open an infinite amount of opportunities to create better and more accurate systems of researching and testing.…
Many examples in the history of medicine not performing the way it is planned is due to the barrier between animals and humans. In the 1950’s an epidemic had hit the United States after an animal tested product was being distributed in stores. These sleeping pills carried a drug that if not moderated can affect the lives of unborn babies. These tests were done on pregnant animals such as rats, guinea pigs, and even cats. With no effects occurring it was pushed to the human trials.…
Animal testing is the human act of using lively, conscious animals to test products, not caring what the aftermath may be. According to peta.org, more than 100 million animals are slaughtered in U.S. laboratories. Those that have the heart to inflict this type of brutality do this immobilizing them in restraint devices for hours, drilling holes into their skulls having their spinal cords crushed. (peta.org). Other than the physical atrocities that humans are forcing vulnerable animals into, they are also isolated from their own kind, confined to barren cages, and therefore, become severely traumatized.…
Right now animals are being put through excruciating pain. You can prevent this. You can stop this injustice. You ca save countless helpless lives. Animal experimentation has been an extraordinarily controversial topic since animal testing first began.…
considering they were “God’s creation” as some will say (Monamy 10). On the contrary, British Lord Chancellor Francis Bacon thought that animal testing is an excellent way to learn more about our bodies and how it works (Monamy 10). However, this controversy made animal testing rise. An additional amount of scientists started using different types of animals such as monkeys, rats, birds, dogs, cats, and the list goes on and on. With animal testing in use, scientist found out how the digestive, respiratory, nervous, muscular, etc.…
By doing the right testing we can find the end to some of these illnesses. I think without animal testing we could probably die out from not finding out cures to these diseases. The California Biomedical Research Association states that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals. Experiments in which dogs had their pancreases removed led directly to the…
Charles Darwin a 19th-century English naturalist once said, “The only difference between humans and other animals was a difference of degree, not kind” (Levine). These words brought Americas and Great Britain’s attention to the use of animals in testing and the inherent cruelty of it. The French Philosopher, Rene Descartes, believed that “animals were incapable of feeling pain” (Levine), but Darwin’s idea brought about that animal testing is inhumane, does not benefit humans, is inconsistent, inaccurate, and costly. No one is sure of the exact numbers of how many animals are used solely for scientific testing but the estimate is around 14 million to 100 million a year (Levine).…
The beginnings to animal testing were used for common colds, then the testing varieties grew, which caused protests against animal cruelty and helped us find alternatives to animal testing, which should be used in place of the current practices. The three Greek physician-scientists who started animal testing were Aristotle, Erasistratus, and Galen. The practice of using animals for biomedical research has come under severe criticism by animal protection and animal rights groups. This practice has "started to cause debates on the ethics of animal testing have raged since the seventeenth century" (Hajar). Thanks to animal testing protest groups a pharmaceutical sulfa drug was discovered.…
After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
