In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell there are many lessons taught by the characters in the book. These lessons are somewhat hidden but very basic and are seen in everyday life today. The lessons all should be treated equally and too much power for one person show up throughout the story as things go from good to bad within the society of animals. These lessons are important to the society of animals and to society today.
Too much power for one person is a big lesson in Animal Farm. Power is meant to be shared not kept for one person. In the beginning of Animal Farm all the power was shared between the animals as they all had a say in what the rules were and who was in charge for the small decisions. The animals chose the rules and chose Napoleon and Snowball to be the leaders and to make the small decisions for the group. When Napoleon chased Snowball off the farm he took all the power for himself and left none for the animals. In the beginning of Animal Farm all the animals were treated equally and they all got the just enough food, shelter and sleep to satisfy their needs. As the Animal evolved and changed, Snowball was kicked off the farm by Napoleon and Napoleon became a dictator figure. After that everything began to change on the farm. Napoleon then made sure that everybody besides the pigs did all the work because he believed the pigs were superior to all the animals in every way. The pigs got more food and shelter and sleep and so the animals were treated terribly as the pigs took everything. This lesson is very important for people in the world because we don't treat everybody fairly. It is a very big issue in the world as people judge and treat others based on their race and gender.
