Orwell arranged the Animal Farm text chronologically. For example, the first part of the book was how Old Major was being introduced as their respected elder and leader and how he was asking everyone to gather to have a meeting. For instance, Orwell states “Old Major was so highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour’s sleep in order to hear what he had to say.” (Orwell 2) Throughout the story, after Major dies, the book shows the changes of ruling style done by Napoleon along with his “assistant” Squealer. The book’s initial situation was how the animals of Manor Farm were oppressed by their drunken, tyrannical master, Mr. Jones. For example, “Man is the only creature that consumes without producing.” (Orwell 6) This quote states how Jones takes advantage of his animals after all they have done for him, yet he treats them poorly. For example, one day Jones came home drunk and forgets to feed the animals the next day; as a result the cows broke into the store shed and all the animals began to eat. Jones and his men then realize the chaos happening so as a result they brought out their whips and began to whip the animals. Moving on, the main conflict of the book started when Old Major convinces the animals to lead a rebellion for their freedom. For instance, Old Major begins his speech saying “I have little more to say. I merely repeat, remember always your duty of enmity towards Man and all his ways. Whatever goes up on two legs is an enemy.” (Orwell 8) Furthermore, complication arises throughout the story, but what was the complication of the story? After the rebellion, specific things got out of hand, to be more specific, Napoleon’s ruling. For example, “The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others.
