Theme Of Power In Animal Farm

Power is the key for people to satisfy man-self desire, the novel, Animal Farm, is a dystopian allegory story that was written by George Orwell that satires on the corrupting influence power. Animal Farm is about the effect of the power using animals as an example. By reading Animal Farm, readers can find that power plays an important role in Animal Farm and the effect of power is massive. In the story, power is used for selfish purposes. First of all, power leads to avarice as seen by Mr. Jones who, as the owner of the farm, abuses the animals for his own profit. Secondly, as Napoleon gains power he starts to use it to increase his status and importance. In addition, once the pigs gain power, they use it to fulfill their own physical needs and desires at the expense of the other animals. Therefore, according to Animal Farm, the significance of power is that it eventually becomes the means to fulfill one’s selfish desires rather than improving the lives of society as a whole. Power is used for human to gain profits at the expense of animals. Power is also the important element to help Napoleon to improve his status instead of using it for the whole Animal Farm. What’s more, power helps pigs to be treated specially in the Animal Farm instead of all have the same treatment. Power opens a door for the one who owns power to enjoy the benefits that others can not
