“The question is not, can they reason, nor, can they talk. But, can they suffer?” Jeremy Bentham said this in regards to all of the animals that are victimized during animal testings performed by the many different kinds of people. The general consensus seems to be that, animal testing is something that “just happens” in this world. When people turn a blind eye to this heinous behavior, they fail to realize that animals actually are really suffering and it’s just for the benefit of mankind. Many scientists try and reason why they test on animals in the first place.They usually say that an animal and a humans are so similar and that it makes sense to test on an animal because they aren’t exactly what a human is. Even if we aren’t on the same level of development- If a human body is sensitive to manipulation and torture, wouldn’t an animal feel that same pain? Tens of thousands of creatures are forced to endure tremendous amount of pain during their entire life just for human growth. Animals go through many tests for different reasons. Experiments can either be performed for medical reasons, to teach a class, test the reaction of chemicals and foods, or even be just curiosity driven experiments.The United States has been practicing animal experimentation since the 1800s. The number of animals that are exploited and killed for the use of science every year has well reached over 100 million animals. How can this inhumane practice go so unnoticed? It…
