Introduction
Ethics can be seen as universally applicable rules to the study of morality. It seeks fairness and justice. Ethic principles acts in a way that any harm involved is minimal. It holds responsibility to honesty and professionalism of behaviour. Ethics ensure the safety of participants which may be human or animals, both of which have guidelines that need to be met. Therefore, it should be seen as ethically correct before any action is made. The major ethical principles are disciplined and systematic enquiry into morality (McLean 2015). Morality can be simplified down to good/bad or right/wrong however this is dependent on the person so be it religion, environment, upbringing etc. In other words, ethics adds structure to a topic allowing to foresee if topic is permissible, such as animal experimentation.

Animal experimentation is beneficial otherwise it will be seen as morally wrong. So do we have ethical obligations to animals? Animals suffering is a reason of why I disfavour the use of animals in experimentation. The level of intelligence of an animal does not give a right to cause an animal any pain. Nevertheless scientists argue that animal experimentation helps towards a cure for Alzheimer’s or a vaccine against malaria. Yet, if anyone were to witness the continued use of higher primates such as chimps in a research lab environment, the animals would show signs clear signs of discomfort and suffering. The level of intelligence does not measure the control humans have over an animal, which leads to at what point of primates does it become
