Ni Pollok, his wife who was very dear to him, was one of his main subjects, and he wanted to keep her immortal through his paintings. In addition, Le Mayeur immersed himself in the Balinese culture and lifestyle, and it was close to his heart as well. Therefore, in our opinion these could be the reasons that caused him to want a change. He painted them realistically as how someone would have had a glimpse of it, so as to capture the beautiful moments.
