Are Anabolic Steroids made for Athletes?
In a world of fast growing technologies and new innovations in medicine, it is hard to use these innovations the intended way they were structured for, even though their authentic use is vital in the medical field, a lot of people use them for personal benefits to achieve a certain goal while ignoring the side effects that are genuinely meant to fit the patient that is acquiring the indisposition. Anabolic steroids are one of these innovations which are synthetic substances similar to the male sex hormone Testosterone which act as helping dose of treatment to people with certain diseases. However Anabolic Steroids which are also referred to as Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are one of the most famous

But that 's not the only use they found. Dr. Albert J, professor of orthopedics and biomedical engineering at UNC, developed a bioengineered tendon that was a special tissue plate in which cells in a liquid collagen gel could remodel on their own to form tissue like structure. which he later on went to successfully bioengineer a rhythmically beating experimental heart tissue. however after this success, the laboratory went on to perform a new study researched and proved that Anabolic steroids could also improve surgical repairs of shoulder tears and other similar repairs. (News-Medical). Such injuries extend well beyond the world of competitive athletes. In this study a supraspinatus tendon cells were harvested from a patient during his surgery and were sent to the lab to undergo bioartificial engineering with the utilization of a specific anabolic steroid called “Nandrolone decanoate”. After testing with administered doses of steroids, the outcome was outstanding and it wasn’t just a subtle difference, the tendons were smaller, more dense, stronger, more elastic and had better remodeling properties than tissue cells not treated with steroids. more was described by one of the laboratory doctors, Karas went on and described that the tendons responded better to the load and formed a more normal appearing tendon, …show more content…
People should be educated that Anabolic Steroids are meant for critical uses only, and even though it is widely known for its uses with Athletes, Anabolics are strictly forbidden if not informed by doctors. So to sum it all up “AAS” are meant for medical uses to help patients with diseases like, muscular dystrophy, Anemia, and the ones that are having surgical repairs. This drug should be used precisely because an extra dose or a smaller dose could cause all the harm to a person, and that is why they are not meant for recreational athletes because it will clutter their hormones and cause imbalances which will lead to other problems. I believe that the anabolic steroids are such a great treatment owing to the fact that it rebuilds a whole person’s muscular system to keep surviving because of how dangerous it could be as described by Mayo clinic:
“Muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. In muscular dystrophy, abnormal genes (mutations) interfere with the production of proteins needed to form healthy muscle.
There are many different kinds of muscular dystrophy. Symptoms of the most common variety begin in childhood, primarily in boys. Other types don 't surface until adulthood.
