Instead of using the internet or technology in the Colonial Ages, students learned from textbooks so they could remember the lessons (ex: hornbook, bible). Upper class families were offered educations where they learned, reading, writing, simple math, poems, and prayers. However, gender played a big role in the system, boys were offered more advanced subjects and girls focused on how to become a mistress of plantation. The percentage of males that could read and write, 75%, was higher than that of females, 65%. Boys were allowed to carry on to college while girls were taught housework. Finally, by the 19th centuries an appropriate and organized system was made. All genders and social classes were allowed to attend school. By the 20th century, everyone was able to have an education and any race was allowed and treated the same. This caused the percentage of teens who graduated high school to increase by 80%. Not only do American schools offer the tutoring, but also clubs and sports which can help with college résumés. America has some of the best colleges which offer thousands of scholarships. This can help many families around the world to help pay for college. Scholarships help kids get on the right path in college and they can then pay off loans easily. When going to college, people may be confused on what to major in so the first two years of an American college, you don’t have to choose your major, so you could study any subjects you want. America also has many types of schools to help with problems of transportation or social connections (ex: homeschooling, online schools, etc). This will help with kids who have anxiety or lack of
