Amber G Luhn Case Study

Dr. Amber G Luhn is a pediatric sports medicine specialist at the Knoxville Orthopedic Center who got her degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She is married and has children of her own. Her job entails seeing children and teens with sports related injuries that are nonsurgical. She sees patients who have injuries ranging from their toe to their head. Additionally, Dr. Luhn sees patients who have concussions. When Dr. Luhn has a new patient, she makes sure to go out of her way to welcome them. She believes that it is very important that the patient feels comfortable with her. This way, the patient will be open to answer questions and feel comfortable describing how they got their injury. Additionally, it allows Dr. Luhn to create a space of sincerity and warmth which typically doctor’s offices don’t have. She makes sure to always smile at the patient and listen to them very carefully. Luhn doesn’t only work at Knoxville Orthopedic Center, but also on the field. She attends high school and college sporting events to be a doctor on the sidelines. This may be one of the most fluctuating parts of her job, but one that she loves to do. She enjoyed sports so much as a child that now she can make a living out of spending time watching sports. Football is the sport that she sees the most patients from. These football patients come in with concussions, knee injuries, foot and ankle injuries and so many more. Additionally, she sees a lot of baseball players with shoulder injuries. It is very common for a baseball player who is a pitcher to have an injured shoulder since the motion of throwing a baseball can be so strenuous on the shoulder and its muscles and joints. For females, she commonly sees knee injuries in gymnasts and soccer players. Often she has patients who are dancers who have ankle, knee or even foot
