The very initial action taken during Leilani's appointment will be the thorough and extensive taking of a medical history. According to Wilkins (2013), the taking of a comprehensive medical history is empirical in providing ethical and safe dental care to any patient. I will review Leilani's medical history rigorously to check for the presence of any medical conditions that may assist in determining the treatment plan appropriate for Leilani. Leilani's aunty Mrs. Tulituli discloses that she recalls Lelani having a “heart operation” as a baby. Because of this revelation, I will consult Leilani's general practitioner over the phone to obtain further information of what this “heart operation” entails.
