Music is an art which influences everybody distinctly. A visit by the goon squad by Jenifer Egan and the film Almost famous by Cameron Crowe analyse the impacts of music in a society which is constantly changing. Through Bennie Salazar and Scotty, Egan illustrates the counter effect music has on the inevitable change, time brings. However, in the film music is a phenomena which helps to reconcile conflict between various characters. Collectively, both the artists conclude that music is like a facade to many. Music enhances and fantasizes the lives of artists.

In the book Bosco was one such character who was a victim of the adverse effects of the music industry. Initially, the industry endorsed him and made him into one of the most successful “rock stars”(127). In no time he became the front man of the rock band The Conduits. These initial accomplishments swiftly made him attain fame and power. However, soon the music industry took away everything and made him into an incompetent “fat fuck” (127). Similarly, in the film the band Still Water briskly attained distinction and popularity. But, like Bosco, the fame and glamour was displaced by music. As the film describes them as “Almost Famous” a band which could never dominate the music business in the seventies. Hence, both Bosco and the band were like momentary bubbles in the music world. They peeked too early, which caused them to vision a phenomenal future, but before they could undertake it, their carriers were concluded. These short lived artists were now only left with nostalgia, which reminded them of their greatness but also caused them to denounce their lacking current life
