However, it is absolutely not the case. First of all, the society will be carried on by new generations. They are the future of the society, which will not affect the older generation at all. More often a young person can do better than older people. Ralf and Lynn give the reason that the former is more flexible and learns new skill easier compared with the latter. Some of older adults’ body functions make them hard to achieve psychological tasks such as keeping a certain posture and lack of cognition. To learn new skills, they require more time and training. Young people can perform even better than the elderly who have done double practice of the young. It affects people in professions such as piloting (2007, 267). Furthermore, old people need to be taken care of by several people, and they cannot be a part of the working population. Therefore, when the number of elderly increases, it can only cause the lack of labor force. Moreover, older people spend less on consumer goods. Recent research outlines that there are many phenomena emerge. For instance, unemployment rates stay high, activity rates are low, and the increase in percentage of dependent lead to the increasing burden for the labor population by paying more taxes and social security fees.
