Macbeth And Advertisement Analysis

Throughout this year I have been your student nearly all of it, during which you gave us multiple assignments to complete. Three of the documents that are especially prominent in my mind are: the Advertisement Analysis, the Movie Review, and the Personal Narrative. The Advertisement Analysis is the assignment where we chose similar advertisements and compared them to find similarities and differences between them. The Movie Review is the review where we watched the movie Macbeth and criticized it using sources from outside sources. Then the Personal Narrative is the paper where we chose a significant moment of our life and wrote an in-depth synopsis about that duration of time. While advancing toward the end of the class, the quality of the …show more content…
One of the biggest issues that I am constantly battling with is procrastination, especially on the Movie Review paper. While some people are able to stay organized throughout the year, I struggle with the concept and constantly find myself off task and behind due to it. I normally able to catch myself before I get too far behind and can push myself to get back on task, but sometime I simply get too far behind and need more time to accomplish the original goal that was set. Throughout the year, I became a better writer due to the work that was assigned to us in your English class. The projects that were assigned challenged the typical type of paper that I was use to writing, and it made me think outside of my standard thought process on more than one occasion in order to complete the assignment. I also have been able to grow into a more studious person because of the rigor and amount of work given to me at MVCTC, and can say that because of this, I will be more prepared for college than if I would have stayed at my homeschool. At the beginning of the year, I had the simple goal of passing all of my classes with a score of a B or higher, but I was pushed into wanting to excel at school, not only because it will help me in the future, but because it will change the kind of person that I am so that I will be proud of my accomplishments rather than minimally satisfied with them. The only suggestion that I would make is that you continue to be an inspiring teacher to your students so that they are also are encouraged to do their best at their work, and be proud of their

Freshman year requires a lot of discipline, but a lot of students do not possess this trait. The factors that contribute to the success of first year college students are social support, comfort within the college environment, self-control, responsibility and positive self-concept. Being a college student could be very stressful; transitioning from High school to college. Everything I have learned within this course has become extravagantly lifelong tools that I will be using. In every topic I did not completely understand I at least now have a great sense of what it…

It would be a sin to add a pronoun in the essay because it would result in a lower grade. Based on that, I have come into college with a positive aspect that my previous writing skills were very well developed, and the Critical Thinking that was done for every essay prompted me to write very well. I feel that high school has taught me very well and I have grown from my very first essay to now. Throughout the last few years in school, I hope to achieve many different goals. I hope to do better in academics than I did in high school and not slip by just to pass.…

In previous courses I always struggled with managing my time during the writing process. I would start rough drafting, hit a wall, and then ignore my writing until later. Overthinking was also a common issue for me, causing me to panic, which clouded my ability to view my writing clearly. Rough drafting is a huge step in the writing process and I struggled with it in the beginning of this course. For the earliest paper of the semester, I was unable to provide a complete draft for the rough draft day, but with the skills and tricks I learned in this class I was able to provide more complete drafts for future rough draft days.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

Success to College When I started college I was excited but also extremely nervous. I came in saying I was going to get straight As but then I started to struggle, slowly losing hope in my grades. I am slowly stating to get the hope again that I can get the As I want I am trying much harder than before. I decided that giving up wasn 't an option, as I had been in this exact spot many times in high school. So as I sat in my classes I paid more attention and took notes.…

That seemed to be the main issues along with a few formatting problems. Which was surprising because, I have been using MLA format since my freshman year of high school, but I guess you learn something new every day. Another point I was not pleased with throughout my grade book was not indicating the focus of my essays clear enough and elaborating on my thoughts. These two problems have been a major cause for my essays to fall short of what I was hoping. It is ironic going back and looking at the rubric for my “This I Believe” essay and seeing that I did not clearly state what my belief was, which was one of the most crucial parts of my…

My first semester of college has been an intersting learning experience. It has been full of ups and downs. I’ve learned a lot since being in college, mostly how to take charge of my life and get my priorities straight. I learned that being successful in college depends on how you prioritize your work and how serious you take it. At first my priorities weren 't where they were supposed to be, and I realized my grades were going to suffer if I did not change.…

To start, if I don’t like the topic I choose for an essay or if I don’t truly understand the essay guidelines then the focus is really affected. By the end with the final copy in an essay the focus is normally more sharpened than the first draft because as I understand the errors I see where I truly went wrong in guiding the focus. After I find where I went wrong I formulate a solution to guide the focus back on track. Reviewing an essay at least a week after writing it will easily reveal how I strayed from the focus. Particularly in ”This is Gaming?” I did an exceptionally well job in keeping my focus steady but I feel that since it was an observational essay it would be somewhat to stray from the focus.…

Even though I strive to put out my best work for every assignment, I feel that my writing skills are unsubstantial. It seems like most students can look at a topic and know what to write, for me it takes copious amounts of time to even consider the starting point. I struggle especially with sticking to a topic and connecting with the material. If I cannot connect with the subject of the assignment, I have difficulty finding persistence. Additionally, I sense that my English classes have not fully prepared me to write at a college level, but have solely forced me stay at the high school level.…

I soon adapted the attitude to do just enough to pass and therefore never really applied myself fully. Writing essays became a daunting task whenever this type of assignment was given. I soon developed an attitude of resentment whenever I heard the word essay. When I entered the English class at Community College, even though I had reservations about how well I would do I decided I would fully apply myself. It became a challenge to eliminate those negative beliefs about writing abilities, due to my high school experience and turn them around.…
