In “The Sniper” the narrator is facing off an enemy sniper and has a bullet inside of him, but then in the story, “He was frightened back to his senses by the shock. His nerves steadied. The cloud of fear scattered his mind and he laughed” (O’Flaherty 5). During this part, the narrator was not worried or impatient about killing his enemy. However, he was patient about this event and by being so he was able to accomplish his plan in killing the opponent. If he was not patient then he would be to caught up in killing him that he would probably mess up the plan and die. In the second story “The Most Dangerous Game”, while Rainsford is out in the wilderness being hunted by General Zaroff, he will occasionally bring up to himself that, “I will not lose my nerve. I will not” (Connell 19). By Rainsford saying this to himself, he is able to keep a tranquil mind and to not get easily captured by the general. Sangar being patient also leads him to come up with ways in tricking General Zaroff. In which he does leading him to win the hunt. Additionally, Rainford has to watch out for the general for 3 days out in the wilderness making him more patient on what is to come. Patience can apply to any type of adversity and this is important because it will help people overcome that situation. Which

Comparison and Contrast Essay The stories “Cranes” and “The Sniper” show us the effects of war.
