The world Resource Center allows all corporate employees to obtain training, in order to operate a Domino’s store. According to Randall Beck and James Harter in a Harvard business review article noted that, when companies have a high number of “talented managers” they achieve, on average, 147% higher earnings per share than their competition. The World Resource Center is intended to create talented managers (Harvard Business Review, 2018). Furthermore, the SCC creates a competitive advantage due to the fact that it permits franchisees stores to have control over the costs, and reduce the risk of global commodity price changes. The centralized purchasing and the nationwide distribution system allow them to leverage the volume to achieve economies of scale and lower costs [pg.6]. Additionally, Domino’s belt-driven pizza oven allowed pizza to be baked consistently and effortless, which resulted in a great advantage over the competition. Dominos had two events that chanced their future. The 1st one was in April, when employees at a store in North Carolina made a video about the food being prepared in an unsanitary manner. The video made its way online, and was viewed more than a million times. The 2nd event was when a consumer survey ranked Domino’s pizza last among national brands tied with Chuck E. Cheese’s. For all the pizza brands in America, you don’t want to be tied with Chuck E. Cheese’s! However, instead of denying the reports, or pushing them to the side, Domino’s took them head on. They were transparent about the situations. The company implemented a companywide policy that focused on transparency, a strategy that many companies wouldn’t dare do. For instance, Apple was aware that the company for years was slowing down old model iPhones, in order for customers to buy new ones, but said nothing until recently. Naked Juice is in a world of trouble for not being transparent. There is an a class-action lawsuit on Naked Juice for using phrases like “100% Fruit,” “All Natural,” “All Natural Fruit” and “Non-GMO” on their packaging. Studies have found that, not only were the products not all-natural, some of Naked Juice’s products were made with genetically altered soy.
