Chapter 1- what is bullying / the effects

Bullying is a person overpowering someone else. According to Bullying and Teen Activism “Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.” Bullying happens over and over again, and it most likely won’t stop until you tell an adult about it.

Bullying can affect everyone, those who are Bullied, those who bully and those who witness bullying. Bullying is linked to many negative outcomes including impacts on mental health, substance use, and suicide.

Lots of people see bullying happen at some point. You may be the person who stands and watches, or the kids that laughs, but if you are brave and confident and stand up for what is right, you might actually make a difference. Imagine if you were the kid getting bullied, you would feel alone, like no one cares about you. Some things you can do is not be the person standing on the side, according to Bullying “Bullies love an audience”. Another things you can do is, stand up for the person, also, according to Bullying, “If it feels safe, defend the person being bullied. Bullies often care a lot about being popular and powerful. Instead of people looking at him on the “inside” all that shown through was the outside. Alex Libby got bullied on the bus everyday, and everyday got worse, For instance, He got called fish face, stabbed with pencils, and people punched him so hard that they broke his bones.
