This essay aims to explore and describe different aspects of bullying. It will also discuss the definition of bullying, what makes a person a bully, effects that bullying has on both the victim and the bully. Finally it will attempt to highlight what can be done to prevent bullying.
Bullying is a pattern of aggressive unwanted behaviour meant to cause hurt or discomfort to another person. The bullying behaviour is repeated or has the potential to be repeated and involves a real or perceived power balance. The types of bullying that occur are verbal, social, physical and cyber bullying. This can take place at home, in the workplace, at school college or university, online and on social network sites. There is no single factor that can put a person at risk of being bullied, however depending on the environment some groups such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and socially isolated people may be at an increased risk of being bullied. …show more content…
Very often they are people who have been bullied or been abused themselves. Sometimes they could be experiencing life situations that they cant cope with and this will leave them feeling helpless and out of control. Another possibility is they have not been listened to, or valued by their family, sometimes the only explanation is the bully is a mean and cruel person who only feels good when they can cause others harm, these types will feel no remorse and rarely ever stop the bullying this may be whate most bullies have certain things in common, they behave in a dominant manner and tend to cast blame for the bad things in their lives on
