It has been stated “Abortion” is “the intentional termination of a pregnancy after conception. It allows women to put an end to their pregnancies, but involves killing the undeveloped embryo or fetus (Civil Liberties).” The intentional termination of a pregnancy would imply that a person is using their right of choice to terminate a life in the mother’s womb. The question then becomes, do we as people have the right to terminate life; irrespective of age, development, or culture, within a mother’s womb? From a western cultural perspective, the right to terminate life in the womb has been argued for decades; especially when it relates to the topic of abortion. This paper will argue that the right to terminate life in the womb should be disallowed, based on the moral ethics of the Bible, which is considered the Word of God. One passage in the Bible says, “And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
