One of the biggest controversies in the United States today is the issue regarding opposing views on abortion amongst different Christian groups. Abortion, in its meaning refers to a woman who is pregnant and chooses to end her pregnancy. This action occurs by a doctor who removes a fetus from the woman’s womb before it is viable and able to survive in the outside world. This such procedure can be done during the woman’s first trimester of pregnancy, but can also be performed in the second trimester. An abortion view is one of two sides, that of pro-choice and pro-life. The pro-life group are individuals who believe that once conception has taken place, a fetus’s life should not be ended under any circumstances. The second side of the abortion …show more content…
Since this procedure is classified as surgery, there are many risks such as infection, hemorrhage and death (20). While only 10% of women who undergo abortions suffer complications, this procedure is a serious one as the effects can cause emotional burdens as well. Psychological problems have been reported such as nervous disorders and problems sleeping (21). This reason is why abortions can be a very emotional rollercoaster. Those who have had abortions feel guilty and believe they should be punished for their choice. Christians that are both pro-life and pro-choice believe that God loves everyone and he is merciful. He only desires to forgive. Sometimes they may feel as if God will have revenge and either take another from them or their child may become deformed. There is a unique story in the Bible that explains that sins can indeed be forgiven. There was a King by the name David and he committed adultery one night. After attempting and failing to hide the resulting pregnancy, he had the women’s husband killed (22). The morale of this story is that one can try to hid their sins but sins come with consequences that cannot be avoided. Only after one suffers the consequences, will they learn their lesson and be forgiven in the eyes of
