Advertising focused on the psychology of buying appealing to people’s needs, desires and pleasures in the 1920’s. In many ways, in order to be the best, you had to buy the best products. This deals with the theory of “Keeping up with the Jones’s” which deals with trying to be the perfect American family. Ads began to reach out to men and children rather than just women. It would affect what they would eat, what they would wear, and what they would purchase in general. In an advertisement for Nation Oats, the cover contains a young boy kicking a ball.
