Before choosing my final topic, I pondered using a commercial about domestic violence, a short film by Alisha Keys, or an argument scene from La La Land. I found each of them interesting, but it was difficult to find elements that I could write enough on. I thought about how each could translate into a paper, and decided that Pepsi’s Kendall Jenner commercial had the most potential. From the beginning, it was the strongest contender. The Pepsi commercial had many different elements to analyze and I thought that I could include controversial aspect of it in my paper. Originally, I wanted to focus on unity as the main theme of the commercial. My subtopics were pathos, Kendall Jenner, and the pivotal point in the commercial. Because I had a weak argument and subtopics, my rough draft was stressful to compose. I went to the writing center and got advice which helped with the stress. In the end, I was still one hundred words short. During peer review I got constructive criticism. The most helpful part was reading it out loud to hear the parts that were too wordy. Eventually, my teacher advised me that focusing on logos and logical fallacies would be a better way to go. I revised my draft with my new thesis and subtopics, and was able to salvage some of my previous draft and sources. My new structure was easier to work with and definitely improved my
