I am pursuing a career in counseling as I feel God himself calls me to counsel. My intent is to apply for the Master’s in counseling program at Colorado Christian University to start in the fall of 2016. I will be using all my life experiences to help others. My hard times have laid the groundwork for me to go on to get my degree. I have endured many struggles in my lifetime and I will use them in my counseling to help others. My testaments will give me credibility with my clients and I will be able to reach them. I will be working with support groups for addictions, helping struggling stepfamilies and helping my county stop teen suicide. I have done a lot of research on stepfamilies and teen programs to educate people about suicide. I first came upon this need to help others through my own pain after the loss of my father to lung cancer. In my thirties, I went back to school to get my associates in sciences to be a Respiratory Therapy to help others die with compassion and caring. The dying process is hard enough without someone by your side that cares. I channel my pain to helping others so that many could die in peace and they would not have to be alone. I have been the only one at the bedside of a dying patient…
