Physician Assistant Career Essay

As a child growing up I always knew what I wanted to be. Whenever I was asked that famous question, without hesitation, I always replied, "I will be a Doctor and help to heal the sick". I truly believed that. In fact, my determination and drive towards this career path, lead me to easily choose to specialize in the Science Research field at High School for Health Professions and Human Services. This is where I was first introduced to the medical environment and experienced the excitement of it all while engaged in a ten-week high school program at Weill Cornell Medical School. I reveled in this opportunity and gained vital knowledge about the different areas and specialties that exists in the medical field. This was the first time I learned about the career of a Physician Assistant. It was intriguing. Until then I 've only heard about occupations such as Doctors, nurses, nurse 's aide, pharmacists, and technician but never about a Physician Assistant. I remember returning home and talking to my mom about this awesome "PA" who explained what her job entailed at the hospital. To my surprise, both of my parents had never heard about this occupation. I continue to diligently work towards achieving my goals with the hope of making a difference in the lives of others and to be able to give back to my community. At times when I feel deterred, I draw upon my memory of the New York City Science and Engineering Fair where I won first place in the Geology category. This was the stepping stone that qualified me to enter the Intel International Science and Engineering fair. This memory renews my conviction that hard work and persistence enable goals to be achieved and brings forth new
