Onboarding is, among many things, the socialization and introduction for new employees (Nifadkar & Bauer, 2015). The onboarding process allows newcomers to develop social bonds, master task-related components, and enhance adjustments and increase performance (Bauer, Bodner, Erdogan, Truxillo, & Tucker, 2007). For a positive, productive workplace environment all employees must have a common orientation and purpose (Tillott, Walsh, & Moxham, 2013). Symbolic meaning is supported in context to signaling theory. Signaling theory suggests brand perception and image of an organization influences individual creation of signals regarding culture, atmosphere and overall perception of the organization (Celani & Singh, 2011). Signals produced by individuals support or detract from the recruiting process and quantity and quality of potential applicants (Allen et al., 2007; Breaugh, 2008; Celani & Singh, 2011). The reputation of an organization is a contributing factor on the acceptance of a job offer; however, it does not play a significant role in the rejection decision of a job offer (Boswell, Roehling, LePine, & Moynihan, 2003). Organizations selecting recruitment methods have the added task of determining the media used for recruiting, such as web-based recruitment via social media and online job banks (Eckhardt, Laumer, Maier, & Weitzel, 2014). Organizations with websites should have a designated section for job opportunities, easily accessible for site visitors (Allen et al., 2007; Pike, Bateman, & Butler, 2013). Standardization of paper-based job recruitment can be enhanced through incorporation of digital management of employee recruitment (Eckhardt et al, 2014). Organizations need to evaluate the needs of the position and select the recruiting method or methods in order to garner the most suitable applicants for the position (Allen et al., 2007; Breaugh, 2008; Omolo et al.,
