Because Clariant is a worldwide company with its headquarters in Switzerland with 110 operating companies in 53 countries around the world I feel as though it may have some risks with a product moving worldwide. When it comes to plastics there are a lot of different regulations that Clariant North America must comply with to be able to sell raw concentrate to its customers. Every country has their own set of rules and regulations that Clariant must keep up to date with around the globe. When offering a new product such as our Bio-Based material it could bring some potential risk of missed regulation. Clariant can prepare by knowing all of the requirements and all of the necessary contacts of each regulatory departments to set meetings with etc. to ensure that this issue can be solved. A long term plan for this issue would be to do disaster control with these potential customers within the countries that may not comply. If Clariant is able to keep in contact with the customers and keep them update throughout the process it would ease the tension etc. If the product fails within customers this is a major dig to Clariant’s investors. The risk management plan for this is to be upfront with the investors and present to them the risk of the bio based product before entering into the business. Keeping investors and Clariant’s staff informed of the progress and failures and success of the new product will be helpful in how to fix the problem may it occur. Clariant’s management must stay aware of their customers and if the product starts to take a turn for the worse to take the time to implement, train and encourage customers to want to purchase.
