Psychedelic films are most widely known for consisting of a series of images in which take on form of each other and provide a distorted reality for the viewer. One of the many intentions of a psychedelic film is to emphasize on the imagery, which is put together as a sequence to disrupt the viewer 's understanding of a normal reality. The films used in this screening focus on and uses surrealism and intense object disfiguration, while incorporating a variety of bright colors in order to reach unthinkable outcomes. This screening focuses on Psychedelic films and how they changed between 1961-2011. Psychedelic films changed between 1961 and 2011 due to new techniques and advancements in film which start from the beginning using basic geometric series leading to multi-layer abstract work, storyline forms taking on each other, abstract drawings taking on recognizable images, real life video incorporated with distorted images, and wall painted animation.
The materials used for this screening were chosen because of their unique arrangement of images that ultimately received something about these films over time. When starting with the 1960’s psychedelic films the viewer is immersed into the idea of a distorted reality through basic geometric images however when you compare these films to the films created in modern day (2011) the viewer will be able to understand that a modern…
