I agree with Canada’s current healthcare policy.
Why would anyone want to pay for something that they could get for free? As crazy as it sounds, some people would want to pay for the healthcare procedures themselves rather than be on the government administrated service. One of the arguments that is that the wait times are too long. The only way to not go bankrupt from paying every citizens healthcare bills, is to limit supply, thus there are wait times. People don’t like to wait, they want things as soon as possible, they think that if they were able to pay for the services themselves, they would skip the line and get special treatment. It is completely reasonable to allow citizens to purchase private health insurance for additional services. Every citizen is not the same, what the government deems are necessary services for the community as a whole, doesn’t always completely benefit every individual citizen. It is not morally right for the government to deny anyone care, so if the government does not provide a certain service then, the citizens should be able to buy any service they desire. Canada is on the right track with this law, it allows for Medicare to still run smoothly while also giving the citizens a little more freedom of
