Plaintiff Don Marshall, who is filing a medical malpractice claim, is suing defendants John Smith M.D. and Pat Jones P.A.C. The plaintiff sustained a work injury and came to the ER at Laskey County Memorial Hospital; there he was prescribed three days worth of tramadol. He then visited Smith & Smith Medical Center for treatment. P.A. Jones prescribed him more tramadol and followed up with an appointment eight days later, Mr. Marshall described a 50% improvement with his symptoms. At that appointment a Flector patch was applied to reduce acute pain.…
For the past couple of weeks Ted and his wife Leigh-Ann Dillard has been to store #61 in Plano, TX looking for items to decorate their new dining room. He said this associate Shea Thompson provided superior customer service. Shea was very knowledgeable of the products in the store. She went above and beyond to find the perfect items for them. Mr. Dillard advised me that he wouldn’t have known what to buy if it wasn’t for her.…
Frederick West’s behavior is clearly defined by the symptoms of Antisocial Personality Disorder paired with several types of sexual paraphilia’s. Fred West did not show any remorse for his victims, even when it came to his own children. He abducted young girls, rape and tortured them, then eventually killed them and dismembered their bodies. Fred West used his wife Rosemary to his advantage to make young girls more likely to get into his car during his abductions. Fred often switched jobs, this switch caused changes in his interests and tendencies.…
Recently I did my observation at Chime Institute 's Schwarzenegger Community School in a first-grade class that consisted of about twenty students both those of who have disabilities and do not. These students are typically six years old and at the time there was one teacher and one assistant who led the class. In the classroom, there was also one paraprofessional for the student with special needs. The mother of the child was also there guiding her daughter and helping with any questions the paraprofessional had regarding her daughter 's needs. For the majority of my observation, I was in a class setting…
Hi Korynne, I like the way you list the strategies that can be used to affectively benefit exceptional children out of the seven which do you feel would be most beneficial and why? I personal liked the one about helping the child envision positive future careers. Encouraging the child by making connections between their strengths and careers that fit those strengths. As was stated in this week reading assignment many who label persons with a disability focus on that disability rather then building on their strengths, encouraging one to show their ability despite their disabilities is priceless because we all have something to offer no matter how…
The Purdue Three Stage Model The Purdue Three Stage Model is a framework for a program or curriculum with an emphasis on creativity, higher level thinking, problem-solving skills, and independent learning abilities. This model is dependent upon trained and creative teachers willing to teach, facilitate and finally offer resources for each individual student. Criterion 1: Respect for individuals with diverse abilities, strengths, and goals (PARTIALLY MET) The Purdue Three Stage Model ’s gifted identification process includes particular attention to a student 's’ creativity and potential rather than traditional measures of above average scores in order to include English Language Learners, low income families, and minorities (Moon et al., 2009,…
Temple University is located in the center of an urban community called North Philadelphia. The North Philadelphia community is mostly filled with residents and students who attend Temple University. In these neighborhoods, it is noticeable that they are filled with either abandoned houses, empty lots, or even mini markets and Chinese stores. Many of these people that have been living in North Philadelphia, have been living in the same home for years and noticed quite a few changes in the community. One of the new renovations that has been proposed is the new football stadium that Temple University has decided to build for the Temple Owls in the center of North Philadelphia, on Broad and Norris.…
For children who do not have a disability, school systems favor the nurture side. Children who are in general education classrooms, are given the freedom and flexibility to learn at their own pace. They may learn similar, or very different than the rest of their class. Some students may even need much more support than others (Marks, S. U. (2009)). .…
It excels in the fact that it mainstreams the child with their friends and peers throughout a great deal of the school day, while at the same time giving them the appropriate education that they are entitled to. “Inclusion is a value or a belief system to those who make it successful” (King, 152). In schools that utilize the inclusion method, administrators usually delegate certain classrooms as inclusion classrooms where the teachers in these classrooms are expected to use the existing curriculum, including the mandatory state standards, to teach their classes. They do, however, often change their delivery of information, including instructional strategies, grouping methods, assessment strategies, and pacing (King,152). This is to meet the needs of all of the students in the classroom, and provide the most beneficial education to those with special…
If I am in this situation which to attend my student Todd in general education class, I will agree with Mr. Black because that will help Todd in many ways. First, integrating Todd will allows for equal education with other children and engage him in normal life and interact with others. Also, it provides the opportunity for normal children to identify children with disabilities close and assess their problems and help them cope with demands of life. On the other hand, integrating Todd with general education will increase his language skills because language development is very important for children who are integrated, where they can easily succeed through daily interactions with others. In additional, I think integrating children who have…
In our world today, we place a lot of emphasis on innate intelligence and high IQ. However, in his book, Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell challenges our mythical idea of success. He argues that “the relationship between success and IQ works only up to a point”, and that other factors can play a greater role. I agree with Gladwell’s argument that IQ alone does not determine an individual’s success because I believe that qualities like economic status, work ethic, and mindset can be equally, or even more, important. I also believe that it is important that we move away from our old ideas of success because they cripple many aspects of our society, most notably our education system.…
I struggled throughout both my primary and secondary schooling, but always found myself excelling in communicative behaviors between my peers and my ability to think creatively and innovatively. This barrier between my social capabilities and academics grew from my own resentment of my…
While the observations and stories from the parents introduced the overall tone of the documentary, it was later revealed the greater issue at hand for this family. In some of the first scenes of Samuel at school, you could tell that many of the teachers were in fact trying their hardest to help Samuel integrate with many of the other children in the classroom. However, it was apparent over time that the family as well as the teachers were struck in almost the same dilemma. How do you successfully integrate as well as design the most positive education plan for someone with disabilities?…
Early intervention can make the difference in having a successful education. Children who have had the opportunity to attend early intervention, have had lowered rate of having to attend special education classes in the future (Berk, 2014). They also have proven to have higher IQ’s than those children who did not have the opportunity to attend an early intervention. These programs are essential for not only children who have been born with a developmental disability but have been born in to lower Socio-economic back rounds. Therefor it is imperative to continue to find was to continue serving our children and allow them to evolve into productive citizens as well as giving them the best chance at a greater quality of…
Diversity and inclusion in education is an ongoing issue that, as teachers, we will need to be constantly aware of. To be aware of the diverse students in the classroom, whether that be their various cultural and religious beliefs or simply their learning styles as well as being welcoming and accepting of these differences and adapting teaching methods to ensure their success in school means that we are, hopefully, getting the most potential out of the students we are teaching. There is a correlation between diversity in an educational context and Human Rights and Social Justice in the wider world. Simply, diversity relates to Human Rights and Social Justice in education because as the Australian Human Rights Commission states Human Rights…
