Chime Charter School is an integrated school and I had the opportunity to witness many skills that children have as well as see the difficulty some children have. The classroom I observed mainly consisted of typical students with the exception of one student who was in a wheelchair and had difficulty moving her own body. Their physical development varies within every child the majority of children were about the same height but they had a difference in body shape. Regarding children 's fine and gross motor skills, they also have a wide diversity in that category of development. During class time whenever the teacher made the transition into a different activity some kids, mainly the boys would run and jump while cleaning up their areas. I witnessed a lot more boys joining in physical play, as the kids went out to lunch this one little boy ran to some bars and started hanging on them upside down. Another scenario I witnessed was a group of little girls playing during lunch time. They pretended to be playing store. They were near a bench and used it as part of their store. They spoke to each other about what everyone had purchased. This was a form of role play and in order to do so, their cognitive development must be strong enough. As first graders, they are working and building their language skills as well with writing and speaking. There are kids that excel in their linguistic abilities and there are others that have trouble explaining through the use of words. One little boy of Asian ethnicity spoke to his classmate with complete sentences and his friend responded back with stuttering and broken sentences. The little Asian boy had trouble focusing and had a lot of energy while being in class but he had a strength in communicating with others. Another form of cognitive and linguistic development is for students to have the ability to retain memory and their attention span. While in
