In the case study of A Case for Leadership Reverse the Decline, the current second year administrator serving at Samuel Dewitt Proctor Elementary School, an inner-city school, serving Kindergarten through fifth grade students, leads 25 teachers. The school staff includes six men and 19 women, who all have at minimal five years of teaching experience. Eight of the 25 teachers are close to retirement and have a lackadaisical attitude through their job. The administrator has taken on the responsibility of hiring four new young energetic teachers. The school’s demographics are also constantly changing, and the academic success of the school has also been decreasing. Though changes have been made there are still issues which need attention. Teachers and students who excels in character and academics will be featured in monthly school newsletters, county newspaper, and local radio shout outs. Teacher and student will be surveyed quarterly seeking specific concerns in regards to building maintenance, curriculum, students activities/clubs, classroom beautification, and other issues directly and indirectly related to school success and student/teacher motivation. These surveys will be discussed in monthly open house meetings in which solutions will be proposed and action plans will be put in place. Teacher empowerment will be warranted through teacher training and ongoing professional developments. Teacher will be provided the opportunities to express their opinions during all phases of the change process. The staff will be expected to disaggregate the data to determine what areas require immediate attention. After specific content areas and standards are identified, professional developments will be orchestrated to provide continuous professional growth. These professional developments will provide teachers with strategies and methods to implement within their classrooms to help teachers facilitate student learning and growth. This process will allow teachers to become more enlightened and empowered with a better sense of accountability and ownership in dealing with students and academics. It will also provide more opportunities to create productive professional learning communities increasing collaboration and propelling our teachers rate of effectiveness and student learning. Also, to hold teachers more accountable for student learning, the development of lead teachers, mentor teachers, and peer to peer collaboration will take place. This process will allow for a less stressful environment for teachers to learn and grow from one another without the pressures of administration crippling teacher growth. This will also help to develop teacher leaders and help increase the potential of improving the school in the coming
