In order to implement effectively the total educational program, the staff and administration are responsible for professional growth and development. They are also responsible for developing effective school-community relationships conducive to positive school-community interaction.
Over the past five years many positive changes have occurred at Dougherty Middle School. The current growth is a result of many factors, not the least of which is the recent population explosion in Dougherty County is so great that the system had to build another middle school to accommodate the growth. …show more content…
We as a faculty recognize that our students are living in an age that is quite different from that in which teachers and parents experienced school. We will need to be diligent in reviewing the latest in technology as well as keeping our faculty current in the best methods for teaching students in this era.
Parental Involvement
School home partnership is designed to promote a collaboration relationship between families and school personnel to support and promote practices in the home and at school that improve children’s learning and performance. Dougherty Middle School administrators feel that the key to improving this partnership is through our parent facilitator. The parent facilitator offer training for both parents and staff in raising the level of parent involvement and promoting home/school collaboration.
Communication
Communication is another field that needs dramatic improvement. We are just beginning to see the power of the computer network and all that it will bring to improve teaching and communications.
