The country of Germany is located in Western and Central Europe, neighboring Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, France and Switzerland. Germany has an estimated population of 82,727,000 people; where 13% is under the age of 15 and 27% is over the age of 60. In this large population the life expectancy at birth is 81 years and a health life expectancy at birth is 71 years old (“World Health Organization”, 2015). Within this country there is an estimated 701.6 thousand live births and an estimated 875.8 thousand death. When looking the birth to death ratio they are close together and shows somewhat of a balance. There is not a rapid increase or decrease in the population with is an excellent sign for the country. The gross national income per capita is 44,540 and the World Bank income classification is high (“World Health Organization”, 2015). Even with these numbers Germany still has problems within that region of the world.
Within every country they have their burden of disease that greatly impact the population, and Germany is no different. The leading disease in Germany as of 2012 is cardiovascular disease and diabetes, within a population of 82,727,000 people over 6,000 people are affected. Following close behind is cancer and neuro-psychiatric conditions; where there is over 9,000 people (“World Health Organization”, 2015).
