In mindfulness meditation, the patient is open to experience a flood of emotions which enables him to alter his reactions to the daily experience of life. The reactions which are usually negative get flushed out, or altered substantially and tend to become positive. This is the very basis of mindfulness meditation, i.e., assuming the role of a passive observer as if he is just witnessing the events happening to someone else. He cannot be judgmental. He cannot allow the pain of the experience to engulf him. He simply passes the pain without being affected by it and without thinking about it and without trying to alter its course. If he tries to alter his experience, the meditation can be counterproductive. As a matter of fact, there are reports about mindfulness meditation backfiring and aggravating the symptoms of the disorder. One main reason may be that the meditation is not done in the correct way. Because, it is not always easy to experience your own experience -- and that too a traumatic one -- as someone else’s and letting the tide simply flow over. If there are any damaged or corrupted cells, visualize them changing and becoming healthy cells. Visualize that your whole body becoming pure. Visualize yourself as perfectly healthy. Visualize that healing energy is filling you. Visualize that the energy is sourced from a divine power. Visualize that the energy is in action and is healing you. In due course, feel that such holy energy is filling you and changing your cellular structure to a perfect condition, organ by organ, system by system. Visualize yourself that you are sitting or standing in front of your own deity and your deity heals you by the Midas touch by pouring holy energy on you (in Greek mythology King Midas was said to have the ability to turn anything he touched into gold). If you are suffering from a pain, visualize in your mind’s eye, as clearly as possible: the nerve endings that are in the specific area of your discomfort, or all of the nerve endings in your entire body. For every inhalation, visualize and feel that healing air is flowing from a higher power and entering and filling your lungs. Visualize that your red blood cells are absorbing oxygen through the walls of your lungs and flowing through your arteries spreading holy oxygen to every cell in your
