Size of building = area under roof and based on how much of the interior can be reached with a 60 M line from FG pump after it has been positioned.



Size is described using the following 4 standard terms: (4)

1. Small - 60 M pre-connect can reach 100% of the interior



2. Medium- 60 M pre-connect can reach 75% of the interior



3. Large - 60 M pre-connect can reach 50% of the interior



4. Mega - 60 M pre-connect can reach 25% of the interior

Building shall be described by using the number of visible stories above grade.



How many stories before a building is considered multi-storey? (1)

1. Buildings that are 4 or more stories in height are considered multi-storey

Buildings that are well known may be described using their most common name only, no size or height required, such as the following:

Incidents involving motor vehicle collisions shall include the following details regarding the vehicles: (2)

The position of any vehicle involved in an MVC shall be described using the following terms: (3)

2. Defense or Defensive - Indicates that crews will not be entering the hazard Zone

The IAP should be short and to the point and shall include the following: (3)

2. Location where the task will be performed



3. Objective of the task

The task portion of the IAP may include the following: (6)

1. Investigating (nothing showing)


2. Establishing a water supply


3. Laying a line


4. Operating a master stream


5. Performing forcible entry

The location portion of the IAP shall include the following information: (2)

1. The floor or area the crew will be operating on

Naming Command:

1. The IC shall name command using the name or geographic location of the incident along with the designation of 'command'. For example, and incident on Broadway ave would be named 'Broadway Command'

Resource Determination:

1. The IC, after assuming and naming command, shall communicate the initial resource determination for the incident as part of the IRR. When the resource determination is not obvious the IC shall 'hold the alarm'
