Personnel shall communicate actions they are taking as part of any CAN report including, but not limited to, any of the following: (3)

1. Status of their task



2. Any difficulty regarding the work required to perform their task



3. Number of patients found and the location they are being removed to

Personnel reporting the status of a primary or secondary search use the following standard phrases: (2)

1. Primary or Secondary Complete



2. Primary or Secondary not complete

Personnel shall indicate the needs required to support the completion of their assigned task as part of any CAN report using one of the following standard terms: (2)

1. "No needs" - Indicates they have no additional needs and require no support to complete their assigned task



2. "We require support " - Indicates that they require assistance as described to support the completion of their assigned task

Firefighters, personnel shall deliver a CAN report when: (4)

1. The IC request


2. They have completed their task as assigned by the IC


3. It is obvious that they are not able to complete their task as assigned


4. They have critical information regarding personnel safety or any other essential strategic or tactical information

The IC shall request CAN reports as necessary at any incident in order to: (4)

1. Verify the position and function of assigned crews



2. Confirm the overall incident strategy



3. Review, revise and confirm the IAP
