There is a time that comes in every person's life that they will remember forever. It could be a good memory, or a bad one, but it sticks with you no matter what happens.
I am fortunate enough to recall the greatest time in my life and replay it here for you today. My memory is one of pure happiness that still lightens my heart whenever I think about it.
The best moment in my life is not the moment I won a championship game in sports, or the time I got the best grade in a class--not to discredit those who's best moment is one of those--but a moment one fall day in a land full of undiscovered wonder.
My best moment took place on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, surrounded by my family. I was nine years old, and my mouth was wide open with the sight set out before me.
What I saw that moment, with my hands gripping the metal bars in which I was encased, was a myriad of pearly white buildings with golden rooftops, sparkling in the morning sun.
Seeing the Arc de Triomph and the Louvre on either side was something I cannot begin to describe. I recall blinking and gasping in astonishment, because I could not even comprehend the spectacle at which I was gazing.
Considering i was born and raised her in Savannah, Georgia, I had not been prepared in the slightest for the grandeur of one of the most famous cities in Europe.
Even though being down on the streets of Paris was a fun and livewly adventure, the buildings had seemed dark, sometimes even foreboding. But I never would've expected what they looked like from above.
Although i have seen and experienced many different places and things in my short lifetime, this topped all others.
The feeling of awe and amazement, and the knowledge that I would be able to return home and tell my friends about things they had only seen in movies caused happiness and pride to flow from me like a waterfall.
And, experiencing this with my favorite people in the entire world--my family--made the moment all the better.
Also, there were other things that mad the moment memorable. When you see the Eiffel Tower on television, you might think it to be small and unimpressive when compared with something such as the Empire State Building, but in truth, it is astoundingly large and mesmerizing.
Some people might prefer the heights and colors of buildings in New York or Tokyo, but to me, that day, seeing all that tops everything.
