Your body uses the simple form of sugar called glucose as its main source of fuel with the help of a hormone called insulin. Insulin works with the cells to help their uptake of glucose. Insulin acts like a tunnel that helps glucose to enter the cell, once glucose enters the cell it can be used for energy. It also stimulates protein synthesis and free fatty acid storage in the fat deposits. Having an insulin deficiency compromised the body's tissues to access the essential nutrients it needs for fuel and storage. When your pancreas is functioning properly the blood - glucose concentration changes accordingly to changes within your activities or emotional behaviors such as: meals, exercise, stressful situations and infection. However, people with type II diabetes cannot maintain a normal blood-glucose homeostasis. People with this condition can not maintain a good level because it cannot use its own insulin properly known as insulin resistance, or the body does not make enough insulin known as insulin deficient28, 30, 31, 33,13, 17. Insulin resistance develops from obesity and physical inactivity, acting on a substrate of genetic susceptibility33, 34, 30. When someone has NIDD there is an inadequate amount of insulin, or the necessary action is being blocked, and as a result the glucose in the blood cannot be taken into the body's cells.
