I leaned that had to think like I was an elementary student to see if I could understand the writing. This made me edit my writing so that it was shorter and easier to understand. I also couldn’t just have facts. I realized that if it was just facts the children would daze off and would not listen to the story. This made use facts more sparingly and have them in between parts that would interest the children. Lastly, I learned that the images you have on the page should directly be what the text is about. This is because if one or more of the children don't understand the text they can look at the image and get a better idea of what is happening. This made the images I had throughout my book very simple and easy to
