If one would go around and ask the constituents of College of Dupage about their biggest issue on campus some would complain about the cafeteria food chains, the educational policies but the one complaint you would hear the most would be parking. Every year there are about 28,000 students who enroll, meaning they all attend by either riding the bus or driving. Majority of them drive, considering the fact that they are also new drivers who enjoy their newfound freedom. Since that is the case most students can't find parking, therefore they look to other options such as taking the bus, carpooling, or even scheduling classes later on in the day. Most would say the best solution would be to build a bigger parking lot or parking garage, which is…

While researching Prairie State college, a two year, suburban community college that was founded in 1957; I came across some concerning information. According to the statistics provided by Collegescorecard.ed.gov, Prairie State College consistently ranks lower than the national median. For instance, only 40 percent of P.S.C’s students return after their first year of attending this is significantly lower than the national median by 69 percent. In addition to the institution having a graduation rate of 15 percent, the average salary after attending prairie state college is an alarming amount of 29,200 dollars. After reading this I began to question Prairie State’s productivity since the U.S. Census Bureau reported the national median in 2013…

It is with great pleasure that I submit this letter of support for Ms. Cierra D. Jackson’s expression of interest in the Howard University’s School of Law. As the Chairman of the Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Council and a member of the State Senate of Georgia, I fully understand the importance and value of strong leaders. Ms. Jackson has shown how efficient, hard-working and committed she is to her work. This has been demonstrated while as a legislative press intern on Capitol Hill and as a communications intern for the Chief of Staff’s office in the White House. It has been an honor of knowing Cierra, I am impressed by her academic achievements and her accomplishments in the Miss America Organization (originally being crowned Miss Columbus,…

After attending Christopher Newport University for two semesters, it is simple to observe the pattern of the way the university conducts itself. From the registrar’s office, to the Trible Library, to the classrooms, and even the residence halls, there is a clear system of assumptions and rules in place for how life is to be conducted on campus. From the first moment one arrives on campus, it is clear that this university is professionally managed with high expectations. These expectations are not just in place for the students, but for the faculty and administration, as well. The way this image is conducted in classes and in practice could be another matter entirely, for how does one measure authenticity in education?…

Government officials and the president of Barton Community College can help solve some of the problems by attempting to make sure college students graduate so there are no longer low completion rates, shutting down remedial classes because this is a college and students should no longer be taking high school level classes, wi-fi access, and adding more work hours for student employees. Government officials and the president of Barton can help more students graduate by making sure students stay focused, explaining to students what requirements, they must meet in order to graduate, and giving students strategies and support to improve their academic…

As a new administrator, understanding the culture of Grand City University is paramount. Change can be stressful and budget cuts are rarely if ever met with excitement. Much more likely, they cause people to doubt the stability of an organization and even the continued viability of there own positions. Taking the culture into consideration will dictate the solution we implement well as how these cuts are communicated to the university at large. Saint Joseph’s University student Matthew McCracken endured a period of isolation and limitations while living on campus during September 26 and 27 this year. Saint Joseph's University students were confined to their dorms while massive crowds gathered outside. For him, and all college students throughout Philadelphia, this meant I.D.s being swiped at every entry as well as policemen patrolling the eerily empty buildings. McCracken found himself restrained to his dorm throughout the duration of the long weekend This is just one scenario of the impact of the Pope’s visit on students throughout the populous city of Philadelphia.…

Smith College has been the focus of efforts to mitigate climate change. However, with the changes of climate already taking place, Smith College needs to take steps to prepare the college for the changes which will be coming to the area. To begin taking steps to address climate change impacts on campus a vulnerability assessment of Smith College was developed. The assessment was developed by looking at literature on expected climate change in the region, and by talking to stakeholders both on campus as well as at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the city of Northampton. This information was then broken down by season and a map was created to illustrate areas of possible concern on Smith College’s campus based on the seasons.…
