Writing Made Easy “Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them” William Shakespeare wrote this quote in his play Twelfth Night, and it is an accurate description of how I feel about writing. Some people are born being great writers; some work hard to achieve their goal of becoming a great writer; others have great writers as mentors who help them become great writers themselves. I fall under the last category. Writing did not come easy to me, but through the help of my English teacher in high school, writing become not only easier for me but also a hobby that I enjoy.
Middle school at St. Mary’s started it all. In seventh grade, my teacher, Miss Hoch, started to introduce us to writing papers. Brainstorming, outlines, and short three paragraph papers were all we had to do, but those three paragraphs were a struggle for me. We had to write about what we wanted to be when we got older. At home, I sat in front of my piece of notebook paper and pencil. I sat for hours. First of all I did not know what I wanted to be. Thinking about the future was not something I would do often. Finally, an idea popped into my head. Excited, I picked up my pencil and started writing away. When I was done, I was so proud of my work. I knew it would be the best one. I turned it in the next day and waited. My heart dropped when later on my paper was returned to me; all that I saw was red marks. What I had thought was an A+…
