I Don T Care Play Analysis

The song “I Don’t Care” by Fall Out Boy, accurately represents Olivia’s innermost thoughts. Pete Wentz, the artist who wrote the song, said that “I Don’t Care” is a narcissist’s anthem, which is exactly what Olivia is. When the reader first meets Olivia, she is mourning her brother’s death and promises to do so (and swear off men) for 7 years. However it is later revealed that these feelings and promises are not very genuine, because as soon as she meets Cesario, she changes into cheerful clothing to greet him, completely forgetting about her brother. The line “I don’t care what you think as long as it’s about me” once again, connects to Olivia’s unrequited love for Cesario amazingly. And not only that but the thoughts that go through her head as well. She does not care how or what Cesario thinks of her, she just cares that he does. This is evident when Olivia confesses her love to Cesario to which he says “I pity you” and she replies with “That’s a degree to love.” [III.i.114-115] …show more content…
The line “All by my self” explains the state the reader meets Olivia in, mourning her brother and broken hearted. We also learn through a conversation between the sea captain and Viola [I.ii.35-40] that not only has she lost her brother, but her father has passed away some time ago. The line “All by myself, don't want to be all by myself anymore, all by myself, don't want to live all by myself anymore” explains how loneliness is not pleasant which Olivia has first hand experience with. Even the sad, slow beat of the song shows how Olivia’s life must have felt like; depressing and

I recently enjoyed the Frisco Community Theatre production of EVITA the musical. The message I took in while watching this play is follow your dreams no matter what. This message was perhaps very clear to the audience because the main character would not settle for anything less even though she was getting backlash for stealing the love interest of another character. The directors, actors, and designers were very distinguished in transporting us to where the story takes place.…

Freedom of speech is something that has been long instilled in the minds of Americans. Some seem to suppose they have complete freedom of that right, however, there are rules and restrictions. Many are not aware of these limitations and are not aware of just how many our world possesses. Some countries have more restrictions than others, but overall there are some phrases that are against the law to use, for example, shouting “fire” in a theater full of people (Turley 160).…

In the play Olivia has just lost both her father and brother, which leaves her extremely depressed and not wanting to be with anyone. Meeting Viola, or in this case Cesario, she falls deeply in love with the character. This causes issues for Viola because the comedic love triangle is formed with her right in the middle, because Orisno wants Viola to help Olivia marry him. Olivia finds Viola very compelling and attractive, she literally loves everything about him and declares it, “Thy tongue, thy face, thy limbs, actions and spirit, do give thee fivefold blazon (1.5.297-298).” Viola uses this to her advantage to convince the Duke to love her over Olivia.…

In “Losing is Good for You” by Ashley Merryman, participation trophies are steering society in the wrong direction, making people feel that participation is now as good as winning. Aside from that, much more money is being spent on trophies because of the purchasing of participation trophies, not just first through third place. Most people now agree that everyone should be equal, therefore, aside from the actual awards, participating awards are now given as well to everyone. This “nonstop recognition” is causing children and young adults to not do as good on everyday activities because either way they know they will get an award. However, if the recognition isn’t given to them, they “collapse at the first experience of difficulty” making them choose other easier unethical methods like cheating or copying.…

She can see through other people's disguises or flaws, that not even they are able to spot. Some characters are deceived about their true nature. An example of this is that Orsino sees himself becoming "one self same king" of Olivia's "sweet perfections", fulfilling her sexual desire, thought and feeling ("liver, brain and heart"). He naively believes that he is in love with Olivia when he has never really spoken with…
